Are you feeling tired, even when you wake up? Do you need more naps? Maybe you’re misplacing things more often. Are you irritable and lethargic? Having trouble sleeping?
The way of life you used to have, are you missing it? How about anxiety and depression? Do you have brain fog?
NPR published a comprehensive article by Rhitu Chatterjee addressing these issues (If Your Brain Feels Foggy And You’re Tired All the Time, You’re Not Alone).
Pandemic Factors
If you’ve had COVID-19, that could be a factor. For all of us, the trauma and stress from the pandemic are underlying causes. Once the pandemic is over, these feelings will most likely pass, too.
The pandemic has caused us to be more vigilant, which is exhausting. It just never seems to go away. Our sense of safety and stability have been threatened. Some have lost their livelihood, their home, or loved ones.
Don’t Forget Self-Care
Self-care at this time is even more important. Are you eating right, exercising, and getting rest?
- Identify activities, like meditation or watching the birds, that feed your soul.
- Try a change of scene. When is the last time you took a vacation?
- Connect with some friends.
- Start a gratitude journal.
Have some compassion for yourself. Find someone to talk to, like a therapist. It’s been a tough time, and it’s not over yet.
Want to talk? Make an appointment with me – phone, teletherapy or in person.
