Getting to Sleep

You are here:
Getting to sleep, listening to audiobook, podcasts to help you sleep, get sleepy

Sometimes I find it difficult getting to sleep.

A reliable method that helps me is listening to an audiobook. The book must not be too boring or too interesting. If it’s too boring, it doesn’t capture my interest enough to stop the chatter in my head. If it’s too interesting, I can’t go to sleep because I want to hear it.

Libby, the one I use from Johnson County Library, has a timer at the top of the screen (shaped like a moon) to indicate how long I want the book to play. The Kansas City Public Library also offers this app. No matter where you live, you can use any of our metropolitan libraries free of charge.

The New York Times ran an article recently on podcasts to help people go to sleep.

  • Get Sleepy
  • Sleep with Me
  • Phoebe Reads a Mystery
  • Nothing Much Happens
  • Goodnight World, and
  • Boring Books for Bedtime.
