Who is Martha Childers?
Professionally, I am a psychotherapist as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
I have an undergraduate degree in religion, philosophy, and foreign and ancient languages, which lays the groundwork for exploring an individual’s beliefs and how these beliefs affect behavior.
My specialty lies in serving multicultural, couples, women and individuals age 50+.
Personally, I’m a native of Missouri. Growing up I loved reading my older sister’s psychology and sociology books that she brought home from college. My enduring interest in human nature, beliefs, and life styles is what led me to become a counselor.
What Makes Me Unique …
I lived and traveled in Europe, Asia, and Africa for 12 years and sojourned in Austria, England, Switzerland, Japan, India, and Iran. During that time, I learned to speak German, Japanese, and French. I appreciate and have a love of other cultures, and I enjoy diversity. While living in Japan, I practiced Zen through a variety of traditional arts for 3-1/2 years. Since that time, mindfulness has been an integral part of mylife.
My deepest desire is to provide a safe and comfortable environment in which I am able to help my clients express themselves, clarify their thoughts, and identify ways to improve their lives.
Whether you have a short-term issue to address, or chronic stressors, I can help find ways to solve problems, enhance pleasure, and improve your life.
